Olive Quinta

The Little

We are situated in a small hamlet nestled in the hills near the village of Cortiça, named after the cork that is harvested from the nearby oak forests.  Pilgrims pass by the house daily on their journey to Santiago de Compostella,

This is a place to stay if you like the peaceful tranquillity of rural life.

I was first introduced to Portugal nearly 20 years ago when my brother worked in a school near Lisbon.  It was a place that I always loved; wonderful climate, a relaxed way of life, the kindest people and it felt like a bit of a secret. We bought the farmhouse in 2016 and would love for you to enjoy this place as much as we do.

We hope that you will settle into watching locals making hay, picking grapes to make wine, ploughing up the fields to plant vegetables of all shapes and sizes, herding goats and generally keeping very busy.

There is a bakery (padaria) at the bottom of the hill and bread can be delivered daily.  Gina (our housekeeper) can bring you her eggs (she has a wonderful collection from all her well cared for hens). Freshly pressed orange juice (picked from our trees) is a wonderful way to start the day.
