Tailor your time.  There are plenty of things to do year round. The Golega Horse Festival in early November celebrates the famous Lusitano horses. If you enjoy music, Porto hosts Primavera Music festival and the Jazz festival, just outside, hosted Herbie Hancock in 2017.

Beautiful historic towns and cities are a short drive away.  Tomar - famed for its castle and convent which housed the last of of the Knights Templar. The Pope visited in 2016 to sanctify the shepherds of Fatima and Coimbra is a University city - brimming with history.  You may want to spend time walking the long stretches of beach on the Silver coast or swim in the nearby rivers and lakes.

Spring and autumn are lovely times to visit.  Enjoy the wild flower meadows and warm days.  Weekly farmers' markets' are held in Alvaiazere every Wednesday and in Tomar on a Friday.
